The word ‘friend’ here refers to people in whom we invest time, trust and resources
I would like to ask Luang Phaw the simplest way to explain the existence of heaven and hell to those who don’t have faith in the subject.
My brother in law had kidney failure, but he did not want to have treatment because he wanted to save money to make donations for the kathin ceremony at the hometown temple. He said that my sister wanted to make a donation for this kathin ceremony but she died before she could do it. He was afraid that when he wanted to make a donation, he would also die before having the opportunity. Why is it so difficult to make this merit? "You can see that we have to make merit quickly. We should not wait."
Most people say that the fourth precept is particularly difficult to strictly observe, especially for those who are merchants like myself. I would therefore like to ask Luang Por if there are any strategies to keep the fourth precept pure and chaste?
He was ordained as a novice 3 times and during his last ordination he was firmly determined to lead a monastic life all his life even though at that time he was in grade 8th. He said even though he had to be there all by himself he could do that; as he was ordained he didn’t want to disrobe because he had Nibbana as the goal and he would not feel lonely.He wanted to stay there, he wanted to meditate and disseminate the teachings of the Lord Buddha.
He recited heart of hermit and made a wish for three amulets in front of empty ground. At the end of his spell, there were more amulets than he wished for appearing before him. When he was about to grab them, those extra amulets disappeared through the sand and into the cave.
In Thai tradition, on important days like New Year’s Day, or other auspicious days, younger generations always pay respect and ask for blessings from their elders. I’d like to ask Luang Phaw the importance of blessings, and how one bestows blessings.
She was only 10 years old and her dad is polarized. All her sisters got married and stayed in a separated house. As a result, she was the only one taking care of her dad until he passes away. She likes to do a merit and always help other people before helping herself. What will be fruits of these merits that she has been doing?
I believe meditation has helped with my work and allowed me to have empathy with other people. I feel that, by meditating, I have been able to more fully understand myself.
